I have produced a poster of 12 of my small road paintings in Nantucket. I have been using the same little streets and roads there for many years. I think most of my paintings of curves and byways are little landscapes that haven’t changed much at all in the many years I have known them. One feature of the summertime in the east that I love, and that we don’t have in Hawaii, is green privet. I love its shapes, whether shaggy or trimmed, its smell, the way its edges pick up light and the way it casts solid shadows.
